“Very Unhealthy”.
Tuesday, 05/01/2021, the real-time air quality is picking up in Wroclaw (mostly accompanied by snowfall and a gusty wind); however, the air quality range was so poor at the turn of the year 2020/2021.
It was observed a particularly contaminated air, named ‘dense-soup’ air pollution, across the country, as well as in the Kłodzko Valley. The mean PM10 concentration above 100 µg /m3 in the ambient air were investigated during the period 31/12/2020 – 04/01/2021 at the air quality monitoring stations of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Nowa Ruda and Kłodzko.

During the same time period, the highest air pollution levels were recorded across the country. Such a state of affairs was the combination of prevailing weather conditions, topography, and cold air stagnation that allowing pollutions to accumulate and persist in the near-surface environment. At the same time, the pollutants level was increasing from burning poor-quality solid fuels in the individual furnaces and boilers for the purpose of heating buildings (see attached figures) 02.01.2021.
